Where Science Meets Contact Sport

Active Guard was born out of experience — and necessity.

Founded by Steven and Nehal, the idea came after Steven’s son, a dedicated BJJ and MMA athlete, contracted a staph infection during training. Seeing how quickly something so common could become serious sparked the need for a better preventative solution for athletes.

With Nehal, a registered pharmacist, bringing a clinical understanding of hygiene and infection control — and seeing first-hand how often antibiotics are prescribed for avoidable skin issues in contact sports — the pair began developing a smarter approach to protection.

Their goal was simple:

Create a product that athletes could use safely every day — one that’s fast, effective, and supports the body’s natural defences without harsh chemicals or fragrances.

Through research, testing, and collaboration with experts in hypochlorous acid (HOCl) technology, Active Guard was created — a professional-grade skin defence spray designed specifically for the demands of combat and contact athletes.

Today, we’re proud to help raise hygiene standards across gyms, clubs, and teams — protecting athletes, supporting coaches, and keeping more people healthy, training, and doing what they love.
